The garden behind Killen Cactus.
Lantern Bloom Cactus is where we share the life behind Killen Cactus: flowering cacti, seed-grown hybrids, seeds, and seasonal stories from our high-desert garden. We focus primarily on flowering Echinopsis and Trichocereus hybrids, grown for their color, form, and breeding potential.
Some plants and seeds will be available through our Etsy shop. Others will be shared here as bloom records, breeding notes, growing lessons, and stories worth keeping.

Spring
Repotting, fresh labels, seed trays, and the year’s biggest bloom flush—especially in May. Pollination begins, and new pups often follow behind the flowers.
Summer
Early watering, shade-cloth checks, ripening fruits, and seed harvests. Growth slows during the hottest weeks, while new pups continue to emerge after bloom season.
Autumn
Repotting returns as temperatures ease, new pups are assessed, and our garden is tidied and organized before colder nights arrive.
